Audrey Jean (Motley) Eggers passed on November 17, 2017. Visitation will be Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Strode Funeral Home with family greeting friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 26, 2017 at the Zion Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Morrison Cemetery.
Audrey was born August 17, 1946 to Alice Marie and Arlis Motley. Audrey graduated from Hollis High School and Oklahoma State University. On March 24, 1968 Audrey was united in marriage with Delles Eggers. Audrey and Delles lived in the Morrison, Oklahoma area her entire married life.
Audreys passion was teaching. As a high school student she taught vacation bible school at a mission church and Sunday school. As a young mother she taught vacation bible school in Morrison, Oklahoma. As her children matured, she took on additional responsibilities with the formation of the Lutheran Student Fellowship at Zion serving Oklahoma State University students. Audrey taught English fluency classes through Hands Abroad at University Heights Baptist Church for 20 years with her final class in May 2016. From 2006 through 2011 Audrey spent 4-6 weeks each summer teaching English fluency to English teachers in China.
Audrey was active in Zion Lutheran Church as a member as well as a worker. Audrey participated in Lutheran Womens Missionary League. Audrey and Delles led the Walther League (youth group) as a young married couple. Over the years Audrey patiently waited for her husband Delles as he prepared for and cleaned up after services in his roles as Greeter, Usher, Elder, and Offering counter. Audreys notes from recent sermons were significant.
Audrey enjoyed writing articles and short stories. Almostly Murder with Pets was written with her close friend Mary Ellen Cooper. Audrey and Mary Ellen were in the Stillwater Writers Group together for years and traveled to Mystery Writers Conferences around the Midwest. Audrey enjoyed field trips for research when writing articles for magazines like Emu Today.
Audreys efforts helped people learn about Jesus and better understand their own Christian faith. Her dedication to serving Oklahoma State University domestic and international students resulted in people across the country and world seeing her love for Christ in action.
Audrey is preceded in death by her daughter, Carrie Eggers; brother, Harold Motley; parents, Alice Marie and Arlis Motley; father-in-law, W.D. Eggers; brother-in-law Brent Eggers.
Audrey is survived by her husband, Delles Eggers of Morrison; son, Timothy Eggers of Shenandoah, Iowa; daughter, Roxanne and son-in-law Nicholas Joslin of Leavenworth, Kansas; four grandsons, Milton, Dietrich, Ian and Barnabas; two granddaughters, Myrdin and Gwendolyn; Mother-in-law, Virginia Eggers; elder sister, Arlene Rath of Oklahoma City; younger brother, James and his wife Janna Motley of Hollis; a sister-in-law, Rosemarie Motley of Mandeville, Louisiana.
