Donald Dean Duckwall, 78, a Stillwater Native passed away Thursday, January 12, 2017. Funeral services will be held at the Stillwater First Church of the Nazarene at 1023 E Will Rogers Stillwater, OK. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater, OK. The Reverend Henry Siems and Reverend Shane Rackley will be officiating. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Don was born on March 30, 1938 to Ralph and Lucile Duckwall in Stillwater, OK. He married Sarah "Betty" Wilson on June 21st, 1959 in the Nazarene Church at 11th and Lowry in Stillwater, OK.
He attended and graduated from Stillwater High School and went on to OSU. He participated in ROTC and worked at the Stillwater Hatchery. In 1961 he joined the Stillwater Fire Department, during his 35 years of employment he moved up in ranks and eventually obtained rank of Lieutenant. In 1993 he received from the Stillwater Exchange Club the Everett Hudiberg Award Fireman/EMT of the year and helped coach the fire departments young girls' softball team, "The Spark Plugs". Don enjoyed the outdoors, he loved to camp and was an avid fisherman. He became a member of the Stillwater Bassmasters. Don was a long time member of the Stillwater Church of the Nazarene and a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators.
Donald was preceded in death by both parents.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah of the home; one son, Michael Duckwall of Stillwater; two daughters, Donna Pebsworth and husband, Steve of Stillwater, Melissa Hitch and husband, Kelley of Stillwater; six grandchildren, Tyler King, Preston Pebsworth, Dalton Pebsworth, Haley Hitch, Hannah Hitch, Megan Duckwall; three great grandchildren; one brother, RJ Duckwall and wife, Marilyn of Ponca City; two brother-in-law's, Billie Wilson of Plano, Texas, Larry Wilson of Stillwater.
