Irma Ruth Girty Barnes (known as Bobbie), peacefully passed away in her sleep and went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January, 29 2018. There will be a family graveside service at 11:00am on Friday, February. 2, 2018 at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell, OK. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

She was born Oct. 13, 1920 in Vian, OK to Daniel Girty and Pearl Austin Girty. She grew up in Earlsboro and completed High School in Cherokee, OK. It was at Oklahoma A & M (now OSU) where she met the love of her life, Marvin Jack Barnes. They were married on Dec. 7, 1941. He always remembered their anniversary as he often commented 2 wars were started on the same day but there was never any evidence as to the local war. They lived in Orange, Tx, Baton Rouse, LA, Oklahoma City, Tulsa and retired in Stillwater where their daughter, Marva Jean Roach lives with her husband, Scott. They celebrated 63 years together before his death on May 27, 2004.

They were very active in their churches, Northwest Baptist in Oklahoma City, and 1st Baptist in Tulsa. She worked at the School of Nursing at Baptist hospital for many years, and volunteered for St. Francis Hospital Auxilary for 20 years before moving to Stillwater and volunteering at Karmen Korner & Elite Repeat. They attended many OSU sporting events and held season tickets in football and basketball. Marvin and Bobbie loved to travel and she continued to take bus trips with seniors after his passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by two sisters, Doris (Charles) Prichard of Lawton, Winnie (Edward) Clark of Casper, Wyoming; one daughter, Marva (Scott) Roach of Stillwater; Grandson, Dillon (Laura) Roach, of Edmond; great grandchildren, Carter and Riley Grandson Daniel and wife Cassidy Roach, of Oklahoma City, and great grandchildren Cohen, Leighton and Blythe; many nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank the staff at Golden Oaks who lovingly cared for her during her final years.

Memorial contributions can be made to Elite Repeat or Karmen Korner
