Text size

James Marvin Dugger, longtime Stillwater resident, completed his life's journey in Tulsa on August 29, 2017.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday September 1, 2017 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater with Reverend Kevin Jean officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Garden in Stillwater.
Born June 15, 1923 to Dick and Nola Smith Dugger near Mazie, Oklahoma, Jim graduated from Choteau High School in 1940. He was a member of Tom Brokaw's "Greatest Generation", serving proudly during World War II in the 509th Composite Group, the select unit which prepared the Enola Gay aircraft for service in Japan at the advent of the Atomic Age. After the war, he attended Oklahoma A & M (now Oklahoma State University) and earned a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science. Working in supervisory roles as a cattle rancher in Missouri, Kentucky, Georgia and Oklahoma, he later worked in Animal Husbandry at OSU until his retirement. During his years mentoring animal science students, he also judged cattle and swine competitions, managed the OSU purchased cattle herd and earned a Master's degree in Animal Science.
Later in life, Jim owned acreage near Cushing where he raised and sold purebred Yorkshire hogs. He was also an avid OSU sports fan - particularly Cowboys baseball - and followed the team more than once to the College World Series. The man could talk baseball!
Jim was married for 42 years to Ninah Joy (McReynolds), who died in 1990; he was also predeceased by his parents; brothers, Norman, Shelby and Earl; sister, Lily.
He is survived by a sister, Geneva Taylor of Edmond; son, Richard Dugger (Cheri) of Bardstown, Kentucky; daughter, Judy Johnson (Monty) of Tulsa; grandsons, Kyle Barnard of Dallas, Matt (Shelly) Barnard of Bixby; great-grandson, Charlie Barnard and numerous nieces and nephews.
