Jan's Story

Jan Grimes, 84, passed away on November 25, 2017 and is now at peace in the
arms of our Heavenly Father, Jesus.

Jan is preceded in death by his parents, Duane Mondell Grimes and Gertrude lone
Grimes; brothers, Dale and Gary Grimes.

Jan is survived by his loving wife Kay; daughters, Cindy Grimes of Parker, Colorado
and Michelle and husband Dean Fredriksen; grand-daughters, (who meant the
world to him), Kristen Fredriksen and Kelsey and husband Mauro of the Atlanta
area and special sister and brother in-law Jill and Ken Beck of Stillwater;
Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews to include niece Robbin Patterson
and daughter Typanga of Stillwater and nephew Mike Hesser of Waco, Texas.
Jan is survived by special friends Joe Wilkinsen, John Swartz, Tom Berry, David
Martin, Weldon Sheriff, Tom Deal and many, many more friends.

Jan graduated from College High School in Bartlesville, Oklahoma in 1951 and
moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma where he attended Oklahoma State University (then known as Oklahoma A&M). Upon graduating college, he spent 2 years in
the military being stationed in Germany. Upon returning home he moved to
Atlanta, he was employed with IBM. He eventually went to work
with The First Bank of Atlanta. While with the bank, he was sent to Milan, Italy
where he assisted in setting up a bank there. When returning back to Atlanta, he
eventually was hired by Equifax where he retired after many years as a vice
president.

Jan had a great love for helping other people, especially those who served the
Dawsonville, Georgia community, especially those serving as firemen, police,
sheriff, and those in public service. He wrote many articles in the Dawsonville
newspaper under the name of The Simple Man.

Jan is waiting at the Rainbow Bridge with his special dogs, Lil Bit and Max....wish
they had visiting hours at the Rainbow Bridge.

A graveside service is planned for Jan in the coming weeks at the Oliver Springs
Cemetery in Oliver Springs, Tennessee.
