John Edwin Dearinger, age 94, of Stillwater, passed from this life on Sunday, June 30, 2019. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, July 12, 2019 at the Stillwater First Presbyterian Church. John will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
John was born April 22, 1925 in Onapa, Oklahoma to Jack and Diane (Millsap) Dearinger. He lived in Onapa until the age of seven, at which time he moved to Pawnee, OK, where his mother Diane married E.L. Osborn in 1937. John graduated from Pawnee High School.
Following graduation John enlisted in the U. S. Navy where he served during World War II. He was attached to the 1st Marine Division in the South Pacific for twenty-seven months, seeing action in New Hebrides, New Guinea, Carolina Islands, Guadalcanal, Palau, and Guam.
After his military service, John attended college at Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg, KS. He married Cecelia Lee Marx on May 25, 1947 and she joined him in Pittsburg while he finished school. He graduated with a B.S. in Graphic Arts & Printing. After graduating, he worked for newspapers in Durango, CO; Berthould, CO; Estes Parks, CO; and was foreman & mechanical superintendent at the Muskogee Times Democrat and Phoenix for 12 years.
John and his wife Cecelia moved to Stillwater, OK in 1960 after purchasing Lawson Printing Company, changing the name to Dearinger Printing. Today the business is known as Dearingers and has been operating at the same location by the same family for 59 years.
John is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Cecelia; his second wife Rosalie Day; and his son-in-law Kirby Brock.
He is survived by his sons Tom Dearinger and wife Kathy and Rick Dearinger and wife Sue; his daughter Diane Brock; and his grandchildren Amy Andress, Brett Dearinger, Chase Dearinger, Amanda Reimer, Autumn Cagle, Camaron Dearinger, and Brennon Dearinger. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.
