Joseph Lee Dickens Sr., 86, went home to be with his lord and savior on August 3, 2017 in Stillwater, OK. His memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 10, 2017 at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Stillwater, OK. Reverend Calvin Miller and Reverend Raymond Petties Jr. will be officiating. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Joseph was born on February 6, 1931 to William Dickens and Pearl Tyler in Guthrie, OK.
He married Ella Mae (Vick) Dickens on September 14, 1959 in Denver, CO.
He attended Favor High in Guthrie, OK; Meridian Technology in Stillwater, OK. He received a Die Cast Repair reward and worked for the City; City and County of Denver, Chicago Trucking, Harley Thomas Ford, OSU and Mercury Marine where he retired after 27 years of service. Joseph was in the U.S. Army in Wurzburg, Germany.
He is preceded in death by both parents; brother Chester; Billie Peterson; Carolyn Murray; grandson William River and great grandson Keenan Frazier.
He is survived by his wife Ella Mae Dickens; son Joseph Dickens; daughters Rose Marie Rivers(Robert Morris); Carolyn Dickens; Billie Jones(Stephen); Ella Dickens(Robert Bennett); Ruby Dickens. 9 grandchildren Chanell Dickens, Marion Black,(Billy), Shakinda Dickens, Kanesha Kinnard, Kurtise Dickens, Patrick Dickens, Bryannah Rivers, Teyannah Rivers and Marika Dickens; niece Karen Beth Stevenson(George Ray Williams).
Flower Bearers will be Chanell Dickens, Marion Dickens, Kurtise Dickens, Shakinda Dickens, Marika Dickens, Telelia Shinault and Kanesha Kinnard.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Stephen Jones, Lynn Hall, James Washington, Wilbur Eugene Shinault, Patrick Dickens, Juan Jabare Shinault, Dennis Celestine and Tony Shinault.
