Larry Reece

July 19, 1942 - July 28, 2018

Larry Duane Reece was born July 19th, 1942 to Arlen Dee Reece and Mildred Huggins Reece in Clinton, OK. He graduated from Carl Junction High School in 1960 and NEO A&M College in 1962.

He married Linda Arlene Palm at the First United Methodist Church of Miami on September 25th, 1964. The couple resided in Miami for more than 50 years before moving to Stillwater, Oklahoma after retirement to be with family and to cheer on the OSU Cowboys.

He was a loyal family man who never missed a sporting event or performance by his two sons or any of his 3 grandchildren. He was the big heart of the Reece family and always made sure his bear hugs were bigger than anyone elses. He set the bar really high with his example of how to be a Dad and a Grandad.

He was proud of his service as a security officer at St Johns Hospital in Joplin for 23 years because he felt he was making a difference by helping others. He was a successful Independent Insurance Agent for many years and was proud of the years he served Cooper Funeral Home, now Brown-Winter Funeral Home.

He served as Miami Police & Fire Commissioner and as a member of the Miami Civil Defense. He was a Miami Rotary Club member and Past President of the Jaycees.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his 3 brothers Bill Reece of San Antonio, Terry Reece of Dallas and Tom Reece of Kansas City. He is survived by his wife Linda, his son Lance Reece and daughter-in-law Rebekah and their children Ellie & Lucas, his eldest son Larry II, daughter-in-law Jimi, his first grandchild Lauren as well as Hannah and Colton Abernathy and their families. He is also survived by his 100 year young Aunt Pauline Thomas of Berryville, Arkansas & countless nieces, nephews and cousins who he dearly loved.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service Chapel at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 4, 2018. The family invites friends and family to continue the celebration of Big Larry at the NEO A&M Ballroom immediately following the service.
