Margaret Rose Kent (80) went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 18, 2018 at Stillwater Medical Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma from pancreatic cancer.
Margaret "Maggie" Rose (Lionberger) Kent, was born on January 17, 1938. Margaret attended Clinton Elementary, Whittier Junior High, and Lincoln High, all located in Lincoln, Nebraska. While growing up, she was always active climbing trees, tumbling, and dancing. As she got older, Margaret enjoyed twirling a fire baton and participating in high school cheerleading
While working at the University of Nebraska State Museum, Margaret met the love of her life, Douglas Charles Kent. The two were married on December 28, 1962 in Lincoln, Nebraska. They went on to live in Lincoln; Princeton, New Jersey; Odessa, Texas; and Ames, Iowa. They finally settled in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where Doug was a professor of Geology at Oklahoma State University. Margaret gave birth to daughter Karen Margaret on October 19, 1963 and to son David Douglas on June 27, 1966.
Margaret had a servant heart and touched the lives of all who met her. The two things she held most dear were her faith in Jesus Christ and her family. Margaret savored her time studying religion and music at Oklahoma State University. Throughout her life, Margaret had many hobbies, which included: playing the piano, reading, sewing, bowling, camping, her dogs, and her horses. While her children were young, she was active with scouting. Margaret was the business manager for MDK Consultants, Inc., the company that she and Doug built. After her children were grown, Margaret and Doug helped raise their first granddaughter, Jessica. Margaret spent those years homeschooling Jessica from third grade through high school, and was involved with 4-H and several Arabian horse and dressage clubs. Margaret also enjoyed traveling to Tennessee to spend time with her grandchildren Cody and Katelyn, helping with homework and passing on the teachings of her childhood such as sewing and cooking. Up until her death, Margaret spent much of her time with her great granddaughter Joslyn, and actively participated in Joslyn's education and extracurricular activities.
