Services for Michael J. Kumm, 54, Temple, Texas, formerly of Osmond, were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond, Nebraska. The Rev. Glen Emery was the officiant. Burial followed in the parish cemetery. Stonacek Memorial Chapel of Osmond, NE was in charge of the arrangements.
Micheal James Kumm, better known as Big Mike to his friends and coworkers in Texas, passed away Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018, at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Temple.
Mike was born on Jan. 16, 1964, in Osmond, to Milford and Hattie Schlote Kumm. He was baptized on Feb. 9, 1964, and confirmed on April 30, 1978, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond. He graduated from Osmond High School in 1982 and then earned a bachelor of arts degree in business administration from Missouri Western State College.
Mike married Marsha Aufleger on Nov. 11, 1989, in Las Vegas, Nev. They were married for 28 great years.
Mike was a self-employed flooring contractor. His hobbies included watching his beloved Nebraska Cornhuskers, camping and all things to do with the lake, but mostly spending time with his best friend, spouse Marsha. He would also usually drink a Coors Light with you and never had a frown on his face and was uplifting to everyone around him.
He is survived by his spouse, Marsha Aufleger-Kumm of Temple; a daughter, Mikki Grover of Wichita Falls, Texas; and a son, Matt Manning of Mesa, Ariz.; his grandchildren, Austin and Ashley; and his great-grandchildren, Aden and Mariah. He is also survived by his parents, Milford and Hattie Kumm of Osmond; a sister, Denise (Steve) Schneiders of Columbus; a sister, Julene (Kirk) Weyhrich of Osmond; a brother, Mark (Joan) Kumm of Osmond; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Lori Erwin.
