Myrtle Lynch Myrtle Lee (Curtis) Lynch was born June 17, 1918. She married Robert T. Lynch on June 22, 1949, coming to Cushing in July, 1949. Robert and she had 2 sons, Robert (Bob) and Thomas (Tom). Myrtle lost the love of her life, Robert, to a heart attack in 1969.
After moving to Cushing, Myrtle began her nursing career at the Tidewater Oil Refinery Infirmary in Drumright before starting a long career at the Cushing Masonic Hospital where she was employed for 35 years, retiring on her 65th birthday in 1983. She was Director of Nursing Services for 25 years.
She continued to serve others after her retirement by volunteering at the Cushing Regional Hospital for many years, volunteering more than 5,000 hours. Myrtle had been a member of Council Valley Baptist Church since 1961 and served there for many years as a Sunday school teacher.
On her birthday in 2014, Cushing Mayor Joe Manning proclaimed June 17th as Myrtle Lynch Day.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and all of her siblings. Survivors include 2 sons, Bob Lynch of Cushing, Tom Lynch and wife Pamela of Stillwater and their daughter Jennifer of Oklahoma City; one sister-in-law, Jo Ella Curtis of Athens Tennessee, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Myrtle passed away peacefully in her own home on October 8th. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings to her church or any benevolent organization are preferred.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday November 13th at the Yale Assembly of God Church at 10 am. A reception to welcome friends will be at the Davis Funeral Home from 5 to 7 pm on Monday November 12th.
