Ople Marie McGuire departed this world on Sunday, April 16, 2017 in Stillwater, Oklahoma, at the age of 86. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She was born on October 10, 1930, to Charlie and Goldie Dennis three miles east of Yale, Oklahoma on the Dennis farm. She attended Eagles School and the Yale High School. She married her first husband, Albert L. Gazaway, in May 1948. Afterward, they lived in Cushing; Yale; Oklahoma City; Cimarron, NM; Hobbs, NM; Odesa ,TX; Jones, OK; and then Quapaw, OK. After the loss of her husband in 1969, to be closer to family, Ople and her son moved back to Yale, OK.
She worked in catering at the OSU Student Union for four years. Then, she became manager of the Wild Card shop in the Student Union, where she met her second husband, Max McGuire. They were married September 6, 1985, and lived east of Stillwater on Hobby Road. They then moved to their new home on South Fairgrounds Road.
She is predeceased by her parents, Charlie and Goldie Dennis; 3 brothers, Frank, Charles, and Sydney Dennis; 2 sisters, Bessie Mae Mathery and Janie Jones; 1 stepson, Monty McGuire; and 2 nieces and 1 nephew.
She is survived by her husband, Max McGuire; son, Dante (Danny) Gazaway; 3 stepsons, Kenny McGuire, Rod McGuire, and Joe McGuire of Payne County.
She will be laid to rest beside her first husband in Lawson Cemetery, Yale, OK. She will be missed by her son, husband, stepchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephew.
