Paula's Story

Paula Jean Strader, a long time Yale resident, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017 in Oklahoma City at the age of 54. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 15, 2017 at the Assembly of God in Yale. Brother Mich Dershem will officiate. Interment will follow at Lawson Cemetery, Yale, Ok.

Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Yale, Ok.

Paula was born on November 25, 1961 in Michigan to Robert and Janet (Clarke) Aviripas. She grew up in Macomb, Illinois attending Junior and Senior High School, graduating from with Class of 1979. Paula attended a tech school in Alabama where she received her Neurodiagnostic Certificate. She married Jim Havenstrite and they made their home in Tulsa. Paula worked for St. John's Medical Center for 32 years as a Neurodiagnostic Tech, retiring in 2015 due to health issues. Jim passed away and she later married Mike Strader on May 25, 2012 in San Bernadino, Ca then came back to Yale to have their second wedding on June 10, 2012 in Yale. Paula was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church where she volunteered Wednesday night at "Teen Kids". Paula enjoyed cross stitching, going to estate sales, arranging flowers, decorating - especially for "Christmas". Paula was a caretaker at heart and loved playing with her grandchildren. Her favorite color was purple, so family and friends are encouraged to wear purple.

Paula is survived by her husband Mike of the home, son Adam Strader and wife Lindsey of Yukon, brother Jeff Hinderliter of Pekin, Ill., sister Paige Hinderliter- Ferguson of Morris, Ill., step-father Robert "Tony" Avripas of Marion, Ill., mother and father-in law Bill and Marie Havenstrite of Tulsa, grandchildren Jacob Adam Strader and Benjamin Charles Strader.

She was preceded in death by her mother and her husband Jim Havenstrite.
