In the early hours of March 28, 2019, Rudolph Irvine Greer, Jr. (Rudy to most, but Rig to family) left this world surrounded by his family after battling lung cancer. Rig was born December 4, 1945 in Victoria, Texas to Rudolph Irvine Greer, Sr. ("Ponto" to his grandchildren) and Dorothy Bernis Greer ("Babe" to most).
Rig was raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and graduated from Northwest Classen High School in 1964. He then attended Oklahoma State University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in 1969, followed by a Master of Science in Economics in 1972. Rig also served as an Airman 3C in the Air National Guard. In 1967, he married his college sweetheart, Nancy Kay Street, and they raised two daughters together.
Rig spent thirty-four years serving his alma mater, Oklahoma State University, working for seven different deans during his tenure, first as Assistant to the Dean of the College of Business Administration (later the Spears School of Business) and eventually as Director of Planning and Operations. He was integral in establishing the Tulsa Business Forum that helped increase OSU's presence in the business community. Friends and family describe Rig as humble, loyal, reliable, and kind. His colleagues knew him as a dependable, analytical problem-solver who was ready to jump in and help whenever and wherever needed.
He was a man who approached life with a quiet determination and who loved spending time with his family and friends. In retirement, Rig and Nancy enjoyed cruising the world with friends, hosting numerous block parties at their home in Fairview, Texas, and participating in any activity they could do with their five grandchildren. Rig was passionate about his commitment to delivering Meals on Wheels through Allen Outreach, a service he was determined to keep providing even as he was undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. He found pleasure in simple things like watching the birds in his yard, working Sudoku puzzles, and taking golf cart rides through the neighborhood with his steadfast dog, Jaz.
Rig is survived by his loving wife of nearly 53 years, Nancy Kay Greer; daughters Laura Gay Greer of Dallas; Courtney Greer Naismith and husband David of Chapel Hill, NC; grandchildren Alexander Greer Naismith, John Spencer Naismith, William Henry Naismith, Claire Harriet Naismith, and Elizabeth Kay Greer; brother Robert James Greer, Sr. and wife Lacey of Newport Coast, CA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. He was a good man who will be missed by all who knew him.
A service to celebrate Rig's life will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Creekwood United Methodist Church in Fairview, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Allen Outreach Center or Susan G. Komen, North Texas

So sorry to hear about Rudy. I worked with him for a long time while working at the Spears School of Business. Prayers to the family.
