Russell Edward White Jr., longtime Yale resident, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Hillcrest Hospital in Cushing, OK with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4th at the Church of God in Yale, OK with Mike Clark and Mich Dershem officiating. Interment will follow at Lawson Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home and viewing will be held at their Yale location.
Jr. was born on March 13, 1926 to Russell Edward and Zelma Orr (Grooms) White in Three Sands, OK. He was raised in West Point, OK and educated at Floral Valley School near Glencoe. He married Doris Hyle on December 10, 1949 in Pawnee, OK. They made their home in Yale where they shared 68 loving years together and were blessed with three children.
Jr. spent most of his life working in the oilfield. He was a hard worker and always put his family first. His family was his pride and joy—he was affectionately known to his grandchildren as "Pop". In his younger years he was a member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed hunting quail and pheasant, playing dominos, and tending to his vegetable garden. He also loved spending time with his brother-in-law Jim in the hayfield and working cattle.
Survivors include wife, Doris of the home; daughters Bonnie Lilly and Pam Sparks both of Yale; son Mike White and wife, Cindy of Yale; brother-in-law, Jim Skeen of Cushing; grandchildren, Bo Skinner and wife, Loan, Mandi Martin, Tyler Sparks, Micah Gardner and husband, Billy, and Jason White; great grandchildren, Cooper, Izabella, Logan, Aiden, Ella and Eli.
Jr. is preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law Tom Lilly; brothers Kessler, Oswald, Gayle, Euclid and Melvin; and sisters, Othamo and Arcille.
