Susanna, Sue, Porter Santelmann, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, went to be with Jesus Christ early in the morning on September 24, 2016.
She was born in Oakland, Maryland, to Harry Lee and Susie (Littman) Porter on May 25, 1922. Her growing up years were spent on the family farm in her beloved Garrett County, Maryland. Sue (called Jimmy by family and close friends) graduated from Oakland High School and Cathermans Business School. While working in an administrative position at the University of Maryland she met her husband, Paul W. C. Santelmann of Washington DC. They married on December 28, 1950. The two had four children and settled in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where they remained until the last few years of their lives.
Sue invested much of her life in her family. She cherished time with each of her dear ones, and loved meeting all her great-grands. She was also a puzzle master, Solitaire whiz, faithful choir member, birdwatcher, and avid knitter. She loved her family well- we will so miss her warm hugs, typewritten notes, telephone chats, and compassionate empathetic ear.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Santelmann, and daughter, Barbara Kessler.
She is survived by her daughter and two sons, Patricia Emerick and husband Tom, Steven Santelmann and wife Cindy, and Douglas Santelmann and wife Sheryl, as well as by her 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Paul & Susanna Santelmann Staff Development Scholarship Fund at Stillwater Medical Center Foundation.
