Ted's Story

Long time Cushing businessman, Ted Charlton, owner of Charlton's Heat and Air, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. Ted was born September 23, 1947 in Fairfax, OK to Leonard and Murriel Charlton, attended Quay High School and OSU Institute of Technology in Okmulgee where he earned an Associate of Applied Science in Construction Technologies - Air Conditioning and Refrigeration degree. After two tours in the Philippines as a U.S. Navy Seabee, Ted worked for a number of years with Brown Heat and Air Company in Stillwater. Ted and his wife, Lana, opened Charlton Heat and Air in Cushing in 1981.
Ted is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lana: his two brothers, Bruce and wife Darlene; Don and wife Beverly; his sisters, Rowana and Rhonda and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ted loved his work and was thankful for all the support from the Cushing community. His main love for the past several years were his cattle and farms. The business will continue under the leadership of his wife Lana and his nephew Jhosh Charlton, who was like a son to Ted.
In accordance with Ted's final wishes, there will be a private family service.
