William Tohee, Jr. , 65, passed away in Perkins, Oklahoma. He will have a traditional service and feast at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, August 10, 2017 at the Otoe-Missouria Cultural Center. Interment to follow at the Otoe-Missouria Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born on July 30, 1952 to William Tohee and Anna (Kihega) Tohee in Pawnee, Oklahoma.
William graduated with a Bachelor's and Master's degree from Oklahoma State University and University of California-Irvine. William was fluent in the Otoe-Missouria, Iowa, French, and Spanish languages. He also conversed in the Osage and Ponca languages. He worked in California and Washington D.C. for the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
He was a Master Artist in traditional fingerweaving of Men's Straight Dance Streamers and Osage Women Belts which are worn nationwide.
He is preceded in death by his parents; nephew, William Joseph Concha; siblings, Vernon Tohee, Theresa Tohee, Lucille Jeans, and Betty Kaskaske.
He is survived by siblings, Billie Ann Tohee, Kenneth Dean Tohee, Sylvester Alley, and Norma Tohee.
