Barbara Karolyn (Penny) Shell, 75, passed away on July 25, 2017 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. A celebration of life memorial service for Barbara will be held at 10:30am, Tuesday, August 1st, at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel, Stillwater with Mr. Irvin Haken officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Strode Funeral Home.
Barbara was born July 30, 1941, to L.K. (Barney) Penny and Pauline (Jones) Penny in Yale Oklahoma.
Barbara graduated from Ripley High School. She married Charles Edward Shell in Stillwater, May 28, 1960 and they raised a family in Glencoe.
Barbara worked as an independent seamstress for several years while raising a family. She also worked as a seamstress for Janie Sewing in Stillwater. Additional employment included Stillwater Tag Agency, Career Tech, Rathbun Grocery and Costumes Balloons and Stuff.
In her early years at the Farm she enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting, scrapbooking, tatting, painting and several other hobbies. She frequently entered several of her projects in the Payne County Fair.
In her later years she joined several quilting guilds: Glencoe Piecemakers, Cimmaron Valley Quilt Guild, Pawnee Bill Quilt Guild, and Cushing Piecemakers. Barbara enjoyed not only quilting but the many friendships that came with it.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Charles, of the home; and two sons, Rex and Barry, of Glencoe. Additional surviving family include her two daughter-in- laws, Lisa (Driskel) Shell and Pauletta Susie (Mosher) Shell; and two granddaughters, Misty (Shell) Hesser and her husband, Barrick and Kristen (Shell) Young and her husband, Garrett; 5 Great Grandchildren: Hagan Young, Alissa Hesser, Branson Hesser, Adelyn Young, and Sawyer Young.
She was predeceased by her parents.
Barbara also had many other family members and friends who blessed her life.
