Billy's Story

Text size

Billy Ruth Bear Wyatt, a long time resident of Stillwater Oklahoma, died Wednesday, 18th of January 2017 at her home in Golden Oaks. A funeral service will be 11:00 Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Highland Park United Methodist Church, 524 N. Stallard St. Stillwater, OK. Strode Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
Born July 25, 1926 in Hugo Oklahoma, she attended Hugo schools. For a brief period during her high school years, Billy's family moved to California where she was a "Rosie the Riveter" and worked on fuel tanks of P 38's. Billy was an excellent clarinet player for her high school jazz band where she was the only female member. Billy met the love of her life, Harry Miller Wyatt, Junior at a high school band contest and was married just after high school on December 21, 1945. Before becoming a mother and full-time homemaker, she designed window displays for JC Penney's in downtown Stillwater while Harry attended college at Oklahoma A & M.
Billy had a passion for watching birds; she enjoyed golf, bowling, games and playing cards with her friends. She also loved attending Town and Gown plays with her friends.
Harry and Billy were one of the original families of Highland Park United Methodist Church and Billy continued to be a faithful member of her women circle group until she could no longer attend in January.
Her greatest joy and accomplishment in life was her family and she loved that her home was a gathering place for that family during holidays.
She is survived by her four children, Harry Miller "Bud" Wyatt III and wife Nancy, Rebecca Jean George and husband Steve, Frank Bryan Wyatt and wife Cindy, Amy Katherine Brun and husband George; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.
Memorial gifts may be made to Companion Hospice, Mission of Hope or Salvation Army.
