Calvin Irwin Hungerford, 91, died on August 29, 2016 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Family will greet friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday August 31, 2016 at Strode Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at University Heights Baptist Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma with Pastor John Bugg officiating. Interment will be held at 2:30 on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Resthaven Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Strode Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
Calvin was born on November 30, 1924 to Irwin O. and Marie Vinson Hungerford in Hobart, Oklahoma. He married the love of his life, Verna Mae Aulds in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on June 29, 1946. She preceded him in death in 1989. He later married Nettie Lorene Bauman in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He attended the University of Oklahoma and earned his Associates Degree in Accounting. After school, he went on to be an Account Manager for General Motors Acceptance Corporation. After retirement he worked for H&R Block for a period of time then went to work as a driver for Avis until 2009. He was a member of the University Heights Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his loving first wife and mother of his children, Verna Mae; his parents; and four brothers.
He is survived by his wife Lorene Hungerford; one son, David Hungerford and wife Shelley; two daughters; Linda Cantrell and husband Eddie, Debby Goldstein and husband Bob; Grandchildren, Robert Cantrell, Christine McAfee, Mandy Lake, Matthew Hungerford, Megan Hungerford, Jessica Quirin and Jason Williams; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Hungerford, Travis Lake, Jeremy McAfee, Eddie Cantrell , Eddie Paul Cantrell and Jason Williams, with Honorary Pallbearers "The Can-Do" group from University Heights Baptist Church.
