Carl "Curtis" Bullington

After a long and fruitful life of loving service to his family and others, Curtis Bullington, 89, of Stillwater, Oklahoma went to be with his Savior on Wednesday, September 20, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Cawlfield officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Curtis was born April 9, 1928 in Wellington, Texas to Carl Curtis Bullington and Vassie Oda Ryan. He attended school in Wellington. While still a teenager, he accepted Christ as his savior and lived his life by Christian principles. He married Geraldine Bullington on December 28, 1955 in Clarendon, Texas.

Curtis worked all of his life, beginning as ticket taker, popcorn popper, and later projectionist at the Ritz Theater in Wellington, then managing theaters in Mangum, Hobbs, New Mexico, and El Reno. Curtis retired from theater management in 1991 and moved to Stillwater to be near his grandson, Matthew. He worked part time in his retirement at the Satellite Twin and Carmike theaters, continuing to make the best popcorn in the world.

After fully retiring, Curtis continued his lifelong service as companion and helper to Geraldine. After her passing, he has volunteered at Project HEART making many new friends and helping with preparations for the noon meal each day.

Curtis was preceded in death by Geraldine, his wife of 55 years, his parents, and his sister Laverne.

He is survived by two sons, Jim and wife Beverly of Ripley, and Rick and wife Jackie of Hermitage, Tennessee, his grandson Matthew Bullington of Bixby, and brother Bob of Dumas, Texas, as well as special friends Dick and June Dorris, Gerald Dyer and Larry Ellis, and David Spencer.

Pallbearers will be H.L. Baird, Rod Brakhage, Larry Bullock, David Patterson, David Spencer, and Steve Stephens. Honorary pallbearers will be Dick and June Dorris, Gerald Dyer, Larry Ellis, and Jo Lynne Stephens.
