Christine Kennedy Harris, 84, passed away onSeptember 13, 2016 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Her funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stillwater, Oklahoma. A visitation will be on Friday, September 16, 2016 from 6:30p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Strode Funeral Home with family greeting friends. Strode Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
Christine was born on May 27, 1932 to Luther Bertram and Frances Louise Kennedyin Indiahoma, Oklahoma. She married Woodfin Grady Harris on October 27, 1950 at the Centenary Methodist Church in Lawton, Oklahoma.
Christine graduated from Lawton High School in 1950 and then worked for the Department of the ArmyFinance Office at Fort Sill, Oklahoma while Woody was serving in the Korean War. She also worked for the Oklahoma Military District in Stillwater at the ROTC Department of Oklahoma State University. She later worked for 15 years in the OSU Arts and Sciences Research BusinessOffice in Stillwater until her retirement in 1990.
Christine has been a member of Stillwater Lahoma Newcomers and was a Girl Scout leader for many years in Oklahoma City and Stillwater. She has done extensive work on the family genealogy since 1968 and was an accomplished seamstress.The First United Methodist Church of Stillwater has been her church home for 50 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents Luther Bertram and Frances Louise Kennedy; two brothers, Cecil Richard Kennedy and Hugh Lee Kennedy; four sisters; Betty J. (Lawrence) West, Geneva H. (Lawrence) Cunningham, Fay L. (Kennedy) Williams and Jocile (Kennedy) Smith; and her husband, Woodfin G. Harris.
She is survived by her two daughters; Kay(Harris) Emde of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Kemi (Harris) Beausoleil of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Four grandchildren; LTJG GregEmde of Jacksonville, Florida and Caroline Emde Bhakta of Ithaca, New York; AndreBeausoleil of Montreal, Quebec and Lauren Beausoleil of Oklahoma City.
