Donald G. Rose, formerly of Stillwater, Oklahoma, passed away at Spanish Cove Nursing Center, Yukon Oklahoma on July 29, 2016. He was 80 years old. He was born to Bernard A. Rose and Dorothy (Easterly) Rose in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on October 28, 1935.
Donald and his childhood sweetheart, Susanne Sanford, have been married 60 years They have five children: Pamela (Larry) Stephens, David Rose and Donalee Cook, all of Oklahoma City; Bernadine Webber of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Paul (Tara) Rose of Peculiar, MO. They also have five grandchildren: Kristina, Jessica, Brittany, Donald, and Lindsey and three great-grandchildren: Makenzie, Andrew and Owen. Donald was especially proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and their many accomplishments.
Donald attained a B.S. and a M.S. degree in Institution and Restaurant Management from Iowa State University. He was a Registered Dietician. His career included Dietary Director of Iowa Soldiers Home, Marshalltown, IA; Assistant Dietary Director of University Hospital, Columbia, MO; Dietary Director at Baptist Hospital, Oklahoma City. He also did commercial and institution kitchen design.
Donald taught at Iowa State University, Central Missouri State University at Warrensburg, University of Missouri at Columbia, and Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.
He was a member of the Stillwater United Methodist Church, the Fidelis Sunday School Class, United Methodist Men, and a regular in meal preparation for the weekly Methodist Community Dinner.
Donald was an avid woodworker and a member of Stillwater Woodworkers. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
