Ewel's Story

Ewel Winston Ventris, 86, went to his heavenly home on March 18, 2017 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. A memorial service will be 10:30 Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Stillwater, OK. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Ewel Winston Ventris was born on December 5th, 1930 to Clarence and Alta (Wells) Ventris. Ewel (Bubba) attended Stillwater High School. On March 20, 1951, he was sent to Korea with the army attached to the first Calvary Division. He spent two month in Artillery Firing 105 Hover stars. He was then sent to infantry and stayed the rest of his duty in Korea. He received the Combat Infantry badge and the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Campaign Stars. Ewel was honorably discharged on December 19, 1952 and returned to Stillwater where he began working in construction. He married Iladene (Dena) Ventris and to that union three children were born, Debra (Debbie) Ventris of Stillwater, Lee Roy Ventris, of Amarillo, Tx, Allen Ventris of Stillwater, Ok.
Around 1960 he formed E W Ventris Concrete and he spent almost fifty years doing residential and commercial concrete. One can see much of his work all over Stillwater and surrounding areas.
On June 4, 1982 Ewel married the love of his life, Jo "Jody" Ventris, and they shared 35 wonderful years together. Later in life, Ewel gave his life to Jesus. He loved the Lord dearly and loved his Sunday School class, "The Primetimers".
Ewel is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Quinton Ventris; four sisters, Norma D. Ventris Harris, Carleta Ventris Lavorda, Deloris Ventris Little, Karen Ventris Cole.
Ewel is survived by his wife, Jo of the home; two sons, Lee Roy Ventris of Amarillo, TX, Allen Ventris of Stillwater; one stepson, Leon Rains of Amarillo, TX; three daughters, Debbie Ventris of Stillwater, Terri Krieg and husband Mike of Stillwater, Shelly Lawson and Husband Ed of Stillwater; four grandchildren, Carle Jo Hulse and her fiancée`, Kyle McFadden, Caleb Hulse, Brandon Driskel, and Jerrica Driskel all of Stillwater.
