Glenn's Story

Glenn William Emmons (Bill) passed away on Saturday April 8, 2017 surrounded by his family. Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on April 27, 2017 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel, 610 S. Duncan St. in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery.

Bill was born September 26, 1936 in Oklahoma to LaRue and Lela Catren Emmons.

A 1955 graduate of Stillwater High and from his beloved Oklahoma State University with a Mechanical Engineering degree, Bill was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. After graduation, Bill started his career in New York with The Trane Company. A natural entrepreneur, Bill later moved to Huntington Beach, CA where he founded Energy Savings Systems, Inc., an HVAC contracting company which flourished under his guidance until his 'retirement' in 2001. In 1985 at his 30th high school reunion, Bill reunited with his friend and classmate Charlene Stites Boan and they wed in 1987. Never ones to stay idle during their thirty-year marriage, Bill and Charlene split time between Orange County and Tulsa where they worked side by side buying and renovating homes. The best fix-it man ever, Bill loved sailing, NASCAR, OSU football and entertaining family and friends. Active for many years in Rotary, Bill was also past Exalted Ruler of Elks Lodge 946 in Tulsa.

In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his brother Jim; his son, Keith Emmons.

Bill is survived by his wife and best friend Charlene; two sons, Bryan Emmons, David (Kayra) Emmons - both of California; grandchildren, Ally and Drew and his sister Joyce (Ray) Dowd and family of Scott City, KS; Cherishing his memory are Teri and Scott Kramer (Troy and Brett), Christy and George Raleigh (John Stapleton, Adam Raleigh, Meghan Raleigh, Kevin Stapleton), Melinda and Michael Richardson (Lauren, Kathryn, Cameron) and Charles and Sherry Boan (Brooke, Ben, Brock).
