John Guy Moorman, 73, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, in Stillwater surrounded by friends and family. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Elm Grove Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
John was born on November 25, 1943, to Alvin and Lou Emma (Kinney) Moorman, in Coyle, OK. On January 16, 1966, he married Carolyn Bostian at the Coyle Christian Church. Together they had son Clayton and daughter Sonja.
John graduated from Coyle High School in 1962 then worked his way through college as an electrician earning his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1972. He worked with Xerox for 25 years before retiring to the family trade as a trim carpenter. He was a member of the US Army Reserves as well as the Baptist Church in Coyle.
John had a way of making everyone feel special with his warm smile and caring eyes. His happiest times were when he was out doors building, working in the garden and tending to his small farm. He loved his children and grandchildren and cherished the time he had with them. Carolyn was the light of his life and his reason for being the man he was.
John is preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law Roy Bostian, Jr. and sister-in-law Patty Moorman.
John is survived by his wife Carolyn; son Clayton and daughter-in-law Bonnie; daughter Sonja Honegger and son-in-law Scott; seven grandchildren: Emma Maureen Moorman; Austin and Adam Honegger; Nick, Phillip, and Sarah Carrino; Charissa Hoffman; four great-grandchildren: Amber and Nixon Carrino; Ava and Gavin Hoffman; three brothers: Don Moorman; Bob Moorman and wife Patricia; Larry Moorman and wife Galene; two step-brothers Larry and James Phillips; one step-sister Norma Arnett; one sister-in-law Shelly Fowler; mother-in-law Morine Bostian; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Danny Moorman, David Moorman, Craig Moorman, Tah Moorman, Mike Moorman and Jacob Moorman.
