Margaret C. (Ginny) Smith, 92 passed away Monday, January 23, 2017 in her home. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 28, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church, Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Ginny was born August 23, 1924 in Cleveland, Ohio. Her parents were Col. William Ainslie Colston and Cora Virginia (Brown) Colston. She married Harry Edward Smith September 18, 1947. Raised in Shaker Heights, Ohio, she and her husband moved to Millburn, NJ in 1951. Ginny received a BS from Duke University and a MS from Kean University in NJ.
Ginny resided in Millburn, New Jersey until retiring from her position as an executive secretary. In 2005, she moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma, where she was a member of 1st Presbyterian Church. She served as deacon, elder and was involved in Presbyterian Women and Second Mile Sewing. Ginny also volunteered at the Stillwater Medical Center Volunteer Desk and was a member of the Quilt Guild and Art Guild.
She is survived by her son, Ted Smith (Harry, Jr.) and his wife, Laura of Stillwater; daughters, Ainslie Smith Pitcher and husband, David, of Bethesda, MD and Phoebe Smith Barr of Wilmington, NC.
Ginny was especially proud of her 5 grandchildren: Katy Smith Maxwell of Oklahoma City, OK; Amanda Pitcher Fisherow of Arlington, VA; Sarah Barr of Stewart Island, New Zealand; Morgan Smith of Oklahoma City; William Barr of Wilmington, NC and one great granddaughter, Cara; one sister, Ann Colston Leonard of Brookeville, MD.
People who knew and loved Ginny will miss her easily given warm smile, enthusiasm for life, kindness and generosity.
