Orlean's Story

Orlean Rebecca Hunter, 95, died on October 5, 2017 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Family will greet friends on Sunday October 8th, from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at Strode Funeral Home. Her funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, October 9, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Stillwater. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Orlean was born to Rudolph and Clara (Norman) Robinson on April 19, 1922 in Kiowa, Oklahoma. She married William E. Hunter on December 11, 1943 in McAlester, Oklahoma.
She attended and is a graduate of McAlester High School. She attended Oklahoma State University for 3 years.
Orleans life was full of adventure and she loved experiencing life to the fullest. She was a member of the Alpha XI Delta sorority, Bridge Club, PEO-FU, Stillwater Womens Golf Association, and she loved Town & Gown Theatre. She worked for the Public Information Office for 15 years as Executive Secretary, then was an Assistant to the Dean for 15 years at the School of Education both at Oklahoma State University. Orlean was an avid reader. She enjoyed acting and working with the Girl Scouts. She also loved the outdoors and loved camping with her family. Orlean had a passion for golf and she played for many years. Above all, she loved the Lord and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William Hunter; parents; and brother, Rudolph Robinson, Jr.
She is survived by her daughters, Patti Ann Barr of Norman, Pamela Ellen Cobb and her husband, John David Cobb, Sr. of Ft. Mill, South Carolina; five grandchildren, John David Cobb II, Kimberly Ann Marshall, Michael Hayes Gaston, Heather Nicole Justine, Summer Elizabeth Day; Great-Grandchildren, John, Brooklyn, Hunter Elizabeth, Addyson, and Hunter Caleb.
