Reba Elnora's Story
Reba Elnora McKnight Burton, 94, died on July 19, 2016 in Perkins, Oklahoma. Her funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2016 at Eden Chapel in Perkins. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She was born to Jasper and Georgia McKnight on June 23, 1922 in Ripley, Oklahoma. She married Orval Burton on May 7, 1943 in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
She graduated from Ripley High School. She went on to complete the food service training at OSU and at Edmond Central State. After completion of school, she worked at OSU food service for 2 years while her husband was serving in the Army during WWII European Theatre and later at Stillwater Public Schools for17 years.
She was a member of the Stillwater Charter Chapter of American Business women, also the Stillwater Travel Club. A member of the Eden Chapel United Methodist Church most of her life, where she taught a Sunday school class and served as a member and as the President of the United Methodist Women for many years.
She has done many years of volunteer work at the Stillwater Nutrition Site where she received many awards. She was also a volunteer in the Travel Club and American Business Women Organization.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, 4 sisters: Beulah Wells, Ruth Wells, Rena Burton and Maybell Russell and 6 brothers: Roy, Harry, Charles, Ralph, Jack and Johnny McKnight.
She is survived by her two sons: Ronald Burton and wife Nedra of Sand Springs, Oklahoma and Layne Burton and wife Leona of Perkins, Oklahoma. Grandchildren: Jeff Burton, Denise Burton, Becky Burton, Andrew and wife Heather Burton, Aaron Burton and Frank and wife Adrian Burton and 5 great -grandchildren.
