Robert's Story

Robert Herschal Lynch, 90, passed away on July 6, 2017in Stillwater, OK. A visitation will be held at Strode Funeral Home from Thursday, July 13 through Saturday, July 15. Funeral Service's will be held at Strode Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Rossville Cemetery in Rossville, OK. Rodney Holcomb will officiate. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Robert was born in Wellston, OK., on May 25, 1927 to Alvie and Jessie (Haun) Lynch. He was a graduate of Stillwater High School and Pittsburg State University where he obtained Instructor/Teaching Certificates.

Robert married Mary Lee Todd on April 24, 1949 and they had two daughters, Roberta Lee Booth of Cushing, OK and Michele Renee Hazzard of Edmond, OK.

Robert served in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman during WWII at the Oakland Naval Hospital in Oakland, CA. After the war, Robert worked as a carpenter and home builder and a Carpentry Instructor at the Liberal Area Vocational Technical School in Liberal, KS. Robert was a member of VICA, Toastmasters Pancake Campers, Stillwater Church of Christ, Western Avenue Church of Christ in Liberal, KS and Ripley Church of Christ. He served as an Elder, Deacon and Church Bus Minister.

In addition to his daughters, Roberta Booth and Michele Hazzard, Robert is survived by: 7 grandchildren - Jason (Lisa) Hazzard, Denise Tully, Jeremy Hazzard, Justin (Megan) Hazzard, Danielle (Elijah) Salinas, Jessie (Jared) Cook, James (Elizabeth) Hazzard; 10 great-grandchildren and sister Lois Cavin of Ramona, OK.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Lee, three brothers, six sisters and one son-in-law.
