Robert J. (Bob)'s Story
Robert J. (Bob) McClure, Jr., 90, passed from this life on Saturday, July 23,2016, at
his home. Graveside services will be held at lOam, Thursday, July 28th, 2016, in the Red Rock Cemetery with Russ Hughes, officiating. Arrangements are in care of Brown Dugger Funeral Home of Perry, OK.
Bob was born on May 4,1926 in Stillwater, Oklahoma to RobertJ . McClure Sr. and Velaria L. (Jones) McClure. Bob has been a long time resident of Noble County where he grew up in the Red Rock and Morrison area. He graduated from Morrison High School and served a tour of duty in the U. S. Army during WW II, in which he received a Purple Heart for his service. Other awards he received while
in the service were Bronze Star Metal, Good Conduct Metal, European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Metal, WWII Victory Metal, Combat Infantryman Badge, and Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII. He received an honorable discharge from the Army and returned to the Morrison area to married the girl of
his dreams, Darlene R. Selby. They were married on May 28,1950 in Red Rock. They made their home in Morrison, Ok where Bob was a rural route mail carrier for 30 + years for Morrison and Stillwater. Bob's true passion was farming and
ranching with his wife always by his side, while raising four children, in the process. Bob never missed a summer hauling hay and enjoyed gardening, traveling to Colorado and spending time with his grandchildren. Bob was a member of the Morrison American Legion, also.
Survivors include : wife; Darlene of the home, 2 sons: David McClure and wife Brenda, Robert D. McClure and wife Judy all of Morrison, OK, 2 daughters; Carol Jarrell and husband Howard of Edmond, OK, Linda Watkins and husband John of
Mansfield, TX; 2 sisters; Pat Sanders and husband Lee of Perry, OK and Barbara Garvie of Sumner, OK and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Billie Houser, and 1 grandson; Jordan Jarrell.
