Bette Ingham
Longtime Stillwater resident Bette Ingham died Friday, October 4, 2019 at Primrose Retirement Community. She was 85. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church with interment to follow at the church. Father Jeff Huston will officiate. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.

Bette was born October 11, 1933 in Grand Junction, CO and spent most of her life in the Stillwater area. She married Wayne Newport and together had a son, Howard Wayne Newport. In 1975 Bette married Kermit Ingham and they remained together until her death.

She was employed for many years at Colonial Florist, located on South Washington Street. In 1977 she ventured into a new opportunity as a travel agent with Holiday Travels in Stillwater. Bette later became a part owner in the business and remained active with the agency until the mid-1980s when she retired. Her work as a travel agent gave her many opportunities to see the world, experiences she continued to enjoy well into her retirement on trips abroad with her husband and friends.

Bette was active in local organizations including Business and Professional Women and PEO. Soon after retiring she became an active volunteer with her church and worked at the St. Andrews Thrift Store for more than 20 years.

She is predeceased by her mother Gladys St. Peter; her son, Howard Newport and her half-sisters, Ann Scott and Tina Ellington.

Survivors include her husband Kermit Ingham; three stepsons, Steve, Mark and Scott Ingham; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Primrose and her private caregivers for the compassionate and loving support they gave to Bette during the last few years of her life.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Bette's name to the Humane Society of Stillwater.
