Mrs. Catherine Russ Prehn (Cathy) Obituary

Legacy Village, Stillwater, OK - Catherine Ruth Prehn

August 28, 1932 - July 11, 2025

Cathy Prehn left this earth to be with her Heavenly Father on July 11, 2025.

Cathy was born in Wilmington, NC and spent the vast majority of her life in the area in which she was born, which included many members of her extended family.

In the 70's Cathy met Col. Robert A. "Pete" Prehn when they were both stationed at Fort Eustic, VA. They fell in love and married in 1979. Pete retired from the Army that same year, and in 1984 Cathy and Pete retired to her hometown of Wilmington, NC. There, Cathy and Pete both enjoyed yet another career as actors, working primarily at DEG Studios in Wilmington. There they appeared together in many TV shows produced by DEG, and you can still sometimes catch them on the old series Matlock.

Cathy and Pete took great delight in their many family and friends. Cathy was known as a wonderful hostess, offering beautiful meals while ensuring their guests felt absolutely welcomed and at home.

Cathy's step-daughter Winston and her family spent many, many happy weeks at Carolina Beach visiting her step-mother and her father. Each year, each visit, was more special, loving and fun-filled that the prior year. The Prehn children and grand-children are greatly saddened at her passing and miss Cathy very much.

Cathy and Pete were avid and active members of United Advent Christian Church in Wilmington. Cathy often sewed costumes for Church special events while she and Pete both helped direct Church plays and festivities.

Sadly, Pete predeceased Cathy in May of 2014. Cathy is, and will always be, greatly missed by her extended Wilmington family. She is survived by her niece Becky Farrar & husband Arthur Willetts, nephew Bill Arnau and wife Karen, and Doug Horn and wife Cindy. Also by her step-children Robert A. Prehn Jr. and wife Alina, Ann Winston (Winston) Ammann and husband David and David Prehn and wife Judy as well as countless grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her children from a previous marriage, daughter Beverly Morgan and son Gary Morgan.

Plans for Cathy's interment and perhaps a celebration of her life at United Advent Christian Church have as yet not been announced.

In closing, Cathy is at peace, in Heaven with her beloved husband Pete who told her each evening, "Sleep well my love. Sleep well."
