Cortney Dawn Williams Obituary

Cortney Dawn (Armstrong) Williams passed from this life in her home on November 6, 2022, with her family by her side. Cortney was born on August 26, 1981, to Lynn and Karen (Lassley) Armstrong.

Growing up in Yale, Cortney spent her time playing basketball, softball, and showing pigs. She graduated as Valedictorian from Yale high school in 2000. Cortney went on to pursue a Master's degree in Special Education from OSU.

Throughout high school and college she worked at Pope's grocery where she met the love of her life, Jon Williams. Soon after, they went to Eureka Springs Arkansas and got married February 8, 2003. Cortney and Jon resided in Yale where they raised two beautiful daughters, Katelynn and Zoie. Cortney was 100% dedicated to her family and career.

She helped those that needed help and provided constructive criticism, even when nobody asked. Her strong will, work ethic, and tenacity are just a few of the characteristics that made her successful as an academic advisor at OSU and a special education teacher at Yale and Jennings. These qualities contributed to multiple teachers of the year awards at each school.

Teaching was her passion. She influenced hundreds of colleagues, students, and their families. Not only was she a mentor in the classroom, but she was also known as the "Show Mom". She spent countless hours in and out of the show barn helping anyone and everyone. She even went the extra mile and took classes to breed her cows. Which meant her summers consisted of her being arms deep in a cow.

Even though Cortney was successful in her career, her biggest achievement was her kids. Supporting her girls was the highlight of Cortney's life. Everything she did revolved around them.

Cortney was always right in every situation. And if she wasn't you wouldn't know it. She was the go-to person for everyone. She loved to crack jokes and her laughter was contagious. Cortney opened her home and her heart to anyone that needed it. Her love for her family and friends was unmatched. Some days she was just "too nice".

Cortney is survived by her husband Jon, her two daughters Katelynn and Zoie, and her sister Jesika Piearcy along with numerous friends, and family. She is preceded in death by her parents.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 12th, at Homer Ray Gymnasium in Yale, OK. A viewing will be held on Friday, November 11th from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing, OK.
