San Marcos, Texas - David Lewis Hutchison of San Marcos, Texas passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 8th. David was born on June 7, 1955, at George Air Force Base in Victorville, California, the son of Donald & Julia Thorne Hutchison. His family moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1959 where he grew up alongside his two sisters and became a lifelong OSU Cowboys fan.

David graduated with a BS from Oklahoma State University in 1977 and an MBA from University of Strathclyde in 2001. He began his 46 year career in the oil & gas industry working on oil rigs in Oklahoma in the late 70's. He moved to Houston, Texas in 1981 where he met and married Susan Gayle Turpin in 1987. David, along with Susan and their daughter, Bailey, lived overseas as expats for 13 years in Port Harcourt, Nigeria; Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; Doha, Qatar; Moscow, Russia; and Cape Town, South Africa while his position also included extensive travel to many corners of the world. Living abroad as a family strengthened their bond as a unit and inspired a love of experiencing different cultures and traveling. David and his family returned to Houston, Texas in 2004.

David was passionate about his family. Planning vacations, visiting his daughter in New York, and hosting holiday gatherings gave him much joy. David loved riding his bicycle whether it was a local ride in San Marcos, across the state of Oklahoma, or through the five boroughs of New York City. He also enjoyed a good cup of coffee, cheering on the "Pokes" in every sport, traveling, golfing and reading. He and Susan loved exploring the Texas Hill Country where they moved in 2022.

David found his role mentoring young professionals in the industry and students of the OSU Spears School of Business rewarding. Building personal relationships was an important part of his life.

David is survived by his wife, Susan of San Marcos, Texas, daughter, Bailey of New York City, New York, mother, Judy Hutchison of Stillwater, Oklahoma and sisters, Ashley Nance of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Donna Connors of Georgetown, Texas.

A Celebration of Life will be held on January 10th in Houston, Texas.
