Elizabeth Ann Rathbun Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Kauffman Rathbun left this life on May 6, 2024. Elizabeth was born to Margaret Elizabeth Fielden and Joseph Lee Kauffman on September 4, 1939 in Texarkana, Texas.

Elizabeth got her first teaching job at Burleson Elementary School in Dallas where she taught music from 1962-1970. During that time, she met her soul mate William Rathbun. Just a short six months later, they were married on June 12, 1965. As much as she hated to leave Texas, she moved with her new husband to Oklahoma to be close to his family. She lived in Oklahoma for the rest of her years, but her heart was always in Texas along with her Dallas Cowboys.

Elizabeth was a music teacher Glencoe Public Schools from 1972-1996. Her passion was music and teaching, both of which she took very seriously. She took many of her students to competitions year after year. She put on many plays and school events though the years. She taught lessons on the side for piano, guitar, and voice. She will be remembered by many of her students and fellow teachers as a bright light in her small school and community.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 10am at the Glencoe Event Center on Lone Chimney Road in Glencoe.
