Georgia Rae Casey Obituary
Mrs. Georgia Rae Casey, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, entered into eternal life on Friday, June 22, 2018, following an extended illness. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, in Perkins, Oklahoma.
Georgia was born in Tulsa Oklahoma, the fourth of six children born to the late George and Bettye Cummins. Growing up in West Tulsa, she attended Robertson Elementary, St. Catherine's, Monte Cassino, and ultimately graduated from Webster High School in Tulsa, OK in 1968.
Her siblings described her as a "playful rascal" as a child, and a whole lot of fun. She was very close to her grandmother, Mattie McIntosh Sparks, who taught her how to sew at a young age.
She married her best friend, Michael Casey, in 1973, and together they shared in the joys and challenges of life and of parenting their five children. Georgia deeply loved her family.
Georgia worked hard to support her family and was a dedicated employee of the U.S. Postal Service for 14 years. Following that, she switched paths and began a 16-year career with the Payne County Bank in Perkins, Oklahoma. She was loved by her co-workers and the bank customers for her kind, friendly personality.
She was an intelligent, blue-eyed beauty with adorable dimples. She had a great sense of humor and a hearty, contagious laugh that made everything funnier. She enjoyed Mexican food, sewing and working on puzzles, and she was a whiz at answering questions on one of her favorite shows, Jeopardy! She loved to read, watch old movies and British television, and to spend time with her family. She loved listening to various types of music, especially classical and big band.
Georgia is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Mary Cummins Moses. She is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 45 years, Michael Casey, of Perkins OK, her five children, Elizabeth Casey of Nashville, Tennessee, Kathy (Matt) Holecek of Sugar Land, Texas, Patrick (Meryem) Casey of Tampa, Florida, Laura Casey (Austin McGuire) of Norman, OK, and Marianne (Jason) Phillips of Perkins, OK. She also leaves behind to cherish her memory 11 precious grandchildren: Sarah, Natalie, Madeline, Claire, George, David, Derek, Leo, Bridget, Aubrey and Elise, as well as her four living siblings, John Cummins, Margaret Cummins, Gay Cummins Miller and Bill Cummins, and a host of extended family and friends who loved her.
A rosary service will be held 7:00 p.m., Monday July 2 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cushing. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Georgia will be laid to rest in St. Leo Cemetery, Cushing, immediately following the service.
