Juanita Ray Kearns, 80, died August 8, 2025. A memorial service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 30, 2025 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel with Kevin Dugay officiating. A private family inurnment will take place in Bethel Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.
Juanita was born September 17, 1944 to Earl and Iva Harris in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She was the eldest to her identical twin, Jeanita Mae Harris Hover. She was one of ten children. Juanita was married to John Nelson Lazenby Sr. from 1963-1974. To this union, they had three children. In 1975 she married Gary James Kearns, and to this union they added another girl to the family. Juanita received her Licensed Practical Nurse degree in 1978 and worked as a nurse all her life. She inspired many in her family to pursue nursing careers and work in the healthcare field.
Juanita loved holidays and was famous for her turkey, dressing, and chicken noodles. She enjoyed having a house full of grandkids and great grandkids.
Juanita is preceded in death by both parents, her sisters, Earlene Parks, Rosemary Ritter, Jeanita Hover, Maxine Harris, and Edna Mae Harris; her brothers William" Doc" Harris, Virgil Harris, James "Jim" Harris; daughter-in-law Jennifer Benson Lazenby; granddaughter Sarah Juanita Kearns-Shook; nephews Lonnie and Ronnie Hover, David Wayne Hover; and great-nephew Christopher Cowan.
She is survived by her Husband, Gary Kearns; her brother, Robert Harris (Mary); children, John Nelson Lazenby Jr., Rowena Jean Lazenby Crockett, Rhonda Ray Lazenby Jim (Tim Jim), and Jeanita "Gigi" May Kearns; her grandchildren, Greg Hamilton (Cindy), John Nelson Lazenby III, Jake Lazenby, Ty Lazenby, Chelsea Powell (Trent), Trey Lazenby, Cale Lazenby (Tayla), Jenny Castlebury (Kagen), Lexie Littell (Jon), Brandi Ross, Dustin Sloan, Clint Sloan (Randee), Micah Jim, Alex Kearns-Shook; and her great grandchildren, Olivia Hamilton, Paisley Hamilton, Jase Hamilton, Lailah Lazenby, Beau Lazenby, Ava Powell, Wrynlee Lazenby, Kyli Castlebury, Linkyn Littell, Jon Littell Jr., Jessie Ross, Caden Sloan, and Cassadee Sloan and Ted "uncle Butch" Hover Jr. and family, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.

Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.

June - December

Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
