Karen Joyce Culton, a cherished wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on September 5, 1949, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Karen was a true Stillwater cowgirl whose life was marked by passion, dedication, and love.

Karen's journey began in her hometown, where she embraced the values and traditions that would guide her throughout her life. At the age of 19, she embarked on a lifelong association with Oklahoma State University (OSU), a place she called her second home. Her pursuit of education led her to earn a Master of Education degree, and her career at OSU spanned over 45 remarkable years. During her time there, Karen not only achieved professional success but also found lifelong friendships and met her beloved partner and future husband, Robert Culton.

Karen was predeceased by her loving parents, Joann Austell and James Austell. She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories cherished by her husband, Robert Mark Culton, their daughter, Dana Gabrielle Culton; their son-in-law Joe Lyle Swalwell; their grandchildren Kelsey Grae Chmil and Grant Perrin Swalwell; and their great grandchild Milo Ray Chmil. Karen is also survived by her brothers, Jim Austell, Mack Austell, Lonnie Austell, and Rex Austell.
