Marceil Elaine Yarlagadda Obituary

Overland Park, KS - On Sunday night, January 11, 2026, our mother, Marceil Elaine Yarlagadda, passed peacefully from this world. We are deeply grateful that, in her final week, she was gifted with clarity, smiles, and meaningful interactions. We find comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved husband and our father, Rao, with whom she shared 53 years of marriage.

Mom dedicated her life to creating a loving, stable home and raising the three of us, and her example continues to guide us as adults with families of our own. She made our house a true home and ensured it was always a happy place to spend time with friends.

Born to Helen and Deloy Henney, Mom grew up on a farm in Michigan, where she developed a lifelong love of nature and even had a pet chicken. She earned her teaching degree at Central Michigan University and began her career as a middle school teacher. She found love, got married and relocated to Stillwater, Oklahoma which would be where she would spend the next 50 years. That period would include her most challenging and enduring role: mother. For more than two decades, she lovingly wrangled the three of us (five and ten years apart), providing structure, encouragement, and unwavering care.

Mom was always there for us. She was the one that packed our lunches and shuttled us to and from school. She would always have dinner ready for us and make sure it was ready before our next game, tennis match or track meet. She was a great cook, with our favorites being chicken curry, goulash, garlic chicken, apple cake, and pancakes.

Having grown up on a farm, Mom had a remarkable green thumb. Her flower beds of impatiens and house plants were a source of pride, and she could grow just about anything without the help of a sprinkler system. She loved birds, quilts, and the color purple, which could be found throughout her home in many cherished decorative items.

Mom was strong, principled, and deeply fair minded. Her attention to detail and meticulous record keeping were an asset in managing the family's rental homes.

Perhaps we can all enjoy a cup of coffee, while playing Scrabble and listening to John Denver in her memory. "Take Me Home, Country Roads"

We were blessed to have Mom for nearly 84 years.

We miss you deeply, Mom, and carry your love with us always. With love,

From your family:

Tammy (the oldest), Ed, Michael, and Thomas

Ryan (the middle child), Linda, Matthew, Natalie, and Kate

Travis (the youngest), Celeste, Reece, and Isaac

Marceil is also survived by her younger siblings and their spouses: David & Missy, Linda, Alan & Becky
