Margaret Maxine Chaffin
Margaret Maxine Chaffin, 97, died on February 6, 2020 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Her services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 2020 at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Stillwater with interment following at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Strode Funeral and Cremation is in charge of the service.

Maxine was born on August 1, 1922 in Bristow, Oklahoma to John Charles Miller and Ethel Delilah Maxey. She married Frank Stanley Chaffin on June 10, 1945 in San Diego, California.

She attended Oklahoma A & M (OSU) and received her B.S. in Vocational Home Economics and taught in New Haven Schools, in Indiana and then Glencoe High School in Oklahoma. Hillcrest Baptist Church held her membership and she was also affiliated with the Business and Professional Women, Stillwater Christian Women's Club and Child Evangelism Fellowship of Oklahoma.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and her son Stanley; sisters Charlene Duckett and Elizabeth Riley; and brother Noel Miller.

Survivors are children Eugene Chaffin (Pamela) of Greenville SC; Bill Chaffin (Patricia) of Raytown, Mo, Jan Stewart (Ron) of Piedmont, Ok and John Chaffin (Laura) of Stillwater, OK. In addition, are 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one sister Allie Lou Cotton of Stillwater.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship, 2906 S. Yale Ave, Tulsa, OK 74114.

I think of Mrs. Chaffin often. She was a favorite teacher of mine. I have so many memories or cooking in her class, learning how to sew, and working with our little community. She was always soft spoken, and most usually had a smile - unless our class was particularly naughty which sometimes we were.
Mrs. Chaffin was a sweet lady that will truly be missed. Heaven gained an angel.

I loved working with Maxine at the Life Center. Always a delight!
