Margaret Henry Moore
May 20, 1924 - January 5, 2025
Margaret Henry Moore, 100, died peacefully at her daughter's home in Ancram, New York. Other than living with her other daughter, her previous address for 24 years was Bermuda Village, Advance, North Carolina.
She was the youngest of four girls born in Yazoo City, Mississippi, May 20, 1924 to her parents, William Andrew and Elizabeth Mary Jones Henry. There she attended Yazoo High School followed by University of Texas, Austin, Texas where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre Directing (Pi Beta Phi Sorority) in 1944.
Margaret married James Donald Moore of Dallas, Texas. They were married 60 years which consisted of living in 4 states and 3 foreign countries while working his way up the corporate ladder with Exxon. In each of their homes Margaret was a gracious hostess in addition to being a contributing member of many organizations including DAR, PEO, The Salvation Army and most recently Clemmons Presbyterian Church in Clemmons, North Carolina At Bermuda Village she enjoyed bridge, teaching Mahjong and visiting with her many friends.
Most important in her later years was attending Clemmons Presbyterian Church as she and her husband contributed time and energy to its congregation. While living with her other daughter this past year she stated, "Bill Hoyle (former Senior Minister) was a member of my church and I am proud of him. He is a great fellow and a favorite." Her Sunday School class brought her great joy. She would arrange to have friends pick her up and take her to and from her class. Very special friends were Phyllis and Tony Stovall.
For all those who knew Margaret, she was a ray of sunshine, always positive and eager to spread her cheer. Her sense of humor, never misused, brought joy to all who knew her. She was truly cherished by her husband, family and many, many friends.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, James Donald Moore, sisters Rebecca Edwards Brown, Elizabeth Mary "Betty" Henry, and Mary Honoure Wolverton. She is survived by two children (and spouses): Rebecca Newby and Elizabeth Mary McKee, four grandchildren: Elizabeth Mary Margaret Grimes, Charles Andrew Stringer, Trevor McKee, and Sterling McKee; three great-grandchildren: Landon Charles Grimes, Selah Elizabeth Stringer and Jonathan Shepherd Stringer. Two nephews, Joe and David Wolverton and their wives.
For their care and kindness to Margaret during her residence at Bermuda Village, our special thanks to the many caregivers and professionals who made her life a happy time.
