Stillwater, Oklahoma - Maurice Vance McClain Jr., 69, of Stillwater, Oklahoma passed away on July 8, 2025.
Maury was born on January 11, 1956, to Vance and Arlene (White) McClain in Ponca
City, Oklahoma. He was raised in Ponca City where he graduated high school in 1974.
He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at Oklahoma
State University.
Maury was passionate about life and had many interests, including a lifelong love of
flying. He earned his private pilot's license at 17 years old and later in life built a fullscale
flight simulator from scratch. He worked for many years as a Mechanical
Engineer, initially with Conoco and later contributing to several companies around the
United States, ultimately retiring from CITGO. In his spare time, he loved working in his
personal metalworking shop where he created countless projects and ran his successful
business, MRM Metals, crafting custom pieces for family, friends, and those who
appreciated his skill.
Maury was the biggest Oklahoma State fan you could meet. Though loyal to the
Cowboys, he also started cheering for the Sooners in recent years in support of his
daughter, Lisa, who is currently earning her degree at The University of Oklahoma.
Maury was a God-fearing man who always reminded us to lean on the Lord. He loved
his family loudly, deeply, and unconditionally. He was a devoted husband to his wife,
Rita McClain, for over 39 years. Maury was a loving father, brother, friend, and son. His
joyful spirit, strength, and stubborn determination helped him fight with dignity through
every challenge life brough. His favorite companions, his two beloved dogs, never left
his side.
Maury will be remembered by his deep love for his family, his sharp sense of humor, his
quiet wisdom, and his unwavering faith in the Lord.
He is survived by his wife Rita McClain; his children Jamie Wilson and wife Lacey,
Raechel Thacker and husband David, and Lisa Anne McClain; his grandchildren,
Raylee Gardner, Kambree Gardner, Jett Cline, Kynlee Wilson, Rowdie Thacker, Grace
Thacker; and his brother Wayne McClain and wife Sue.
He is preceded in death by his father, Maurice Vance McClain Sr.; his mother, Mable
Arlene (White) McClain; his sister Lisa Ann Chambers; and aunt, Elizabeth McClain.
A special thank you to Tradition's Health, especially his nurse, Danica Roberts, for her
compassion, dedication, and care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to The Michael J. Fox
Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
He was our calm in the storm, our steady hand, and our safe place. We will miss him
every day.
