Patricia Steincamp (Pat) Obituary

Cleveland, Oklahoma - Patricia Sue (Powers) Steincamp, 93, passed from this life into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 4, 2025, after experiencing a stroke on May 18. Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2025 at the First United Methodist Church in Stillwater. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation is in charge of the arrangements.

Pat was born March 20, 1932, to Ivris Bernice "I.B." Powers and Agnes Ellen (Shaw) Powers in Brooken, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of four children and the only daughter. Pat lived in Stillwater for over 50 years until recently, when she divided her time between her daughter, Lisa, in Oklahoma City and her son, Keith, in Norman. Pat graduated from Beggs High School in 1950 and attended Oklahoma State University. There, she met Teddy "Ted" John Steincamp. They were married in December of 1952 and were married almost 34 years until Ted's death in 1986. Ted worked for Goodyear and they lived all around the state of Oklahoma opening new stores. With two young children, they settled in Stillwater in 1969 as Ted had accepted a position in Purchasing at Oklahoma State University. After the children were older, Pat took a job as the Pastor's Secretary at the First United Methodist Church where she was a long-time member. She retired from that job in 2008 after 31 years of service. She was a trained Stephen Minister and offered compassion to people experiencing a difficult time in life by bringing Christ's love and care during their time of need.

Pat loved to be with people and toward that end she was often involved in activities such as playing bridge, dance classes, and painting classes, hosting foreign OSU students and traveling to Russia. She loved to be outside and looked forward to her daily walks and visits with the neighbors wherever she lived. She always enjoyed being with her family, whether it was for a celebration, a meal, or just a good cup of coffee.

Pat is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her three older brothers, Pierson Powers, Merl Powers and Curtis Powers.

She is survived by her daughter Lisa Diane Beck of Oklahoma City and her son Keith Lynn Steincamp and his wife, Cathy of Norman; four grandchildren whom she adored, Evan and Nathan Beck of Oklahoma City and Steven and Caroline Steincamp of Norman. She is also survived by many nieces and one nephew, Sue (Powers) Moore and husband, Glenn, of Danville, California, Ann (Powers) Akins and husband, Johnny, of Edmond, Oklahoma, Marcia (Powers) Robson and husband, Joe, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Pam (Powers) Berry and husband, Stan, of Canyon Lake, Texas, Bruce Powers and wife, Sheila, of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Susan Powers Smith, also of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

When Pat was seventeen, she put her trust in Jesus Christ, acknowledging she was a sinner and accepting God's mercy in forgiving her, and she made Christ her Lord and Savior. She faithfully served Christ throughout her life and was an encouragement to many people.

We, as believers in Christ, need not grieve as those who have no hope for we, not only have the God of All Comfort to lift us up, but have the assurance that, as Paul tells us, "Absent from the body, present with the Lord." Is there any better place to be than safe in the arms of our Shepherd Jesus? He loves us so much, He gave his life for us that through our belief in Him we, though we shall die, yet shall we live.
