Richard Little (Dick) Obituary

Stillwater - Richard "Dick" Little, 89, of Stillwater Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on January 17th 2025 surrounded by family. Born in Topeka Kansas in 1935, Dick made the move to Stillwater in 1939 and was a lifetime resident. He became a fixture, building a legacy of humor, kindness, service and a whole lot of fishing. You could always find Dick and his brother Lefty running around town eating at their favorite restaurants, cruising the local car lots or perusing the tackle shack. He's now gone to join his beloved wife "Peg" on their eternal fishing trip.

Dick graduated from Stillwater High School in 1953. He then served in the 35th Army National Guard for 8 years before being honorably discharged in 1961. He joined the Oklahoma State University Police Department in 1956. After 10 years, he was recruited to the Stillwater Police Department. As if police work was not exciting enough, in 1981 he purchased and ran a local flight school called Stillwater Piper Inc. with his fellow officer and friend. He retired as a lieutenant from the force after nearly 21 years with numerous commendations in 1987. Because he didn't want to be far from the action, he continued working with Stillwater Fleet Maintenance until he fully retired in 1999. He was also a member of the American Legion and a founding member of the Bass Masters of Lake Carl Blackwell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Carlma Little and the love of his life, his wife, Peggy. Dick leaves behind his brother: Carl "Lefty" Little, his children: Kristie Clanton, son-in-law Mike, Tammy DeGrenier, son-in-law Richard, Kim Little Latt, son-in-law David, Corey Little and daughter-in-law Stephanie, his grandchildren: Jason and Aaron McCaslin, Brittany Clanton, Jordan and Kiley Karecki, Audrey, Brady and Moise Latt, Collier and Cross Little, great-grandchildren: Jackson, Kate, Grace, Blair and Mason, and nieces and nephews: Carla Hoffman, Rick Little, Vicki Unger, and Les Little, each of whom will carry on his legacy of laughter, generosity, and a little orneriness. He also leaves behind his best friend, whom he adopted in 2017, the smartest dog in the world: Babe.

If you knew Dick, you knew he was always ready with a story (even if you had heard it a hundred times before), quick to make a biting quip, always willing to give you the shirt off his back, and reserve you a spot in his storm shelter. He was giving his family, friends and caretakers a hard time and cracking them up right until the very end.

Dick wasn't one for fuss or fanfare, so a casual mix and mingle lunch to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, January 22nd from 11:30 to 2:00 at the City of Stillwater Community Center, 215 W. 8th Avenue.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Fraternal Order of Police: fop.net, or the Humane Society: hspets.org.

Remember, he's not gone, he's gone fishing.
