Ross Woodrow Hall Jr. Obituary

Keller, TX - Ross Woodrow Hall, Jr (80) entered into eternal life on October 6, 2025 while residing in Keller, TX. Ross was born on March 6, 1945, in Vinita, OK to parents Ross Woodrow Hall, Sr and Juanita Marie (Bussman) Hall and was the youngest of three brothers.

Ross spent his early years in Oklahoma City, OK before moving to Stillwater, OK with his family in 1956. He graduated from CE Donart High School in 1963. During his high school years, he was involved in numerous clubs and was an outstanding athlete, lettering in football in his junior year and in track, his sophomore year. He played fullback (starter) and defensive end for the Pioneer teams of 1961and 1962, years when Stillwater was one of the strongest teams in the state.

After high school graduation, Ross entered the Army, completing basic training in Fort Polk, La. He later completed Special Forces Training at the John F. Kennedy Center for Special Warfare, Fort Bragg, NC becoming a qualified Special Forces "green beret" soldier.

Ross graduated from Oklahoma State University in May, 1968 with a degree in Zoology, and then went on to complete his Masters at OSU as well. In 1971 Ross moved his young family to Vicksburg, MS where he began his career as a research limnologist with the Waterways Experiment Station, Corps of Engineers. He continued his employment there until his retirement in December 1998. He made significant contributions to his field and was recognized for advancing the crude empiric models to high-quality three-dimensional models run on Cray Super Computers. He worked on high profile water quality studies on both coasts and was an expert in numerical modeling.

Ross lived a simple, yet generous life, always extending a hand to those in need and offering a countenance of acceptance to everyone he met. He never said a disparaging word about anyone and was kind and polite through his last days. He brought joy, a ready smile and laugh. His grandchildren remember the long, unhurried conversations he would have with them. A life-long learner, he was an excellent carpenter, gardener, photographer, and nature lover. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Vicksburg, MS for many years.

Ross is survived by the family he cherished; son, Rodney Ross Hall (Marilyn) Grapevine, TX, daughter, Karen Kelye Garcia (Raymond) Corpus Cristi, TX, grandchildren Christopher Bruce Hall, New York, NY, Emily Elizabeth Hall Alvarez (David) Coppell, TX, Sarah Marjorie Hall, Grapevine, TX and brother and sister in law, Dr. Ronald and Scarlette Hall of Stillwater.
