Ruth Leone List was born in fort Collins, Colorado on May 31, 1921 to George M. List and Ruth Ann Moore. She died July 13, 2019 in Yukon, Oklahoma. A former professor at Oklahoma State University, she is remembered by many friends and colleagues in Stillwater and Yukon.
Raised in Fort Collins, she attended Colorado State University where she
obtained a B.S. degree in Home Economics Education. She was awarded a graduate assistantship to the Merrill Palmer School of Human Development in Detroit, Michigan, where she also taught, and received a Master's degree from Merrill Palmer and the University of Michigan. She taught at the University of Tennessee Laboratory School for Children in Knoxville, Tennessee for several years, following which she became Educational Supervisor of the nursery and kindergarten programs in thirteen
day-care centers in Philadelphia. She came to Oklahoma State University where she taught and directed the Early Childhood Laboratory School in the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences for many years prior to her retirement.
Leone traveled extensively and, following retirement, was active as a volunteer at the Stillwater Medical Center and participated in a number of social and civic groups in Stillwater. In 2013, she moved to the Spanish Cove Retirement Center in Yukon, Oklahoma.
She is survived by nieces Marie Ward Noland of Chicago and Betty Ward Massey of Spokane Valley, Washington; great niece Genevra Knight, Chicago, and great nephew Dana Massimiani, Los Angeles. Internment will be in Fort Collins, Colorado.
