Stephen Elmer Walker Sr., known affectionately to his friends and family as Steve, passed away peacefully on the 2nd of December, 2024, in Tulsa, OK. Born on March 22, 1947, in Cushing, OK, to the late Betty Tackel and Freeman Walker, Steve was a beacon of humor and kindness in the lives of all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Vickie Walker.
Steve spent his childhood in Stillwater, OK, where he graduated from Stillwater High School in 1965. After a brief period working for UPS, Steve found his calling in retail, dedicating over three decades of his life to Opal's House of Bargains from 1985 to 2016. He also owned the Buckhorn Bar from 1988 to 2011, where he became a well-known figure, beloved by the bar's patrons and staff alike.
Steve's life was characterized by his love for his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Pam, of 35 years, with whom he shared countless cherished moments, from attending shuffleboard tournaments to enjoying quiet evenings together. His legacy continues through his son, Stephen Jr., and daughter-in-law Cassie; his daughter, Tonya Fritchman, and son-in-law Wes; and his adored grandchildren, Holly Ford and her husband Caleb, Kylie Cavett, Cailyn Briscoe and his wife Kayla, Walker Fritchman, and his great-grandchildren, Adler Elliott, Paizley Cavett, Zailyn Briscoe, Payton Walker, Scarlett Ford, and Milo Briscoe. Steve is also survived by his nephew, Rance Johnson and wife, Maggie and their children.
Steve's life was enriched by his many interests. He was an avid fan of wrestling and golf and found joy in the competition and camaraderie they brought. His presence at tournaments was a source of encouragement and delight to both participants and spectators. Steve's passion for life was evident in the way he cherished every moment spent with his family and friends.
Friends and family will remember Steve as the epitome of a friendly, funny, and thoughtful individual. His ability to light up a room with his humor and to offer a kind word or helping hand was unmatched. Steve's warm spirit and genuine interest in the well-being of others made him a treasured member of his community.
Steve's journey through life was one of joy, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to his loved ones. As we say goodbye, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of moments that will be treasured forever. His memory will continue to inspire and guide us, just as his presence once did.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stillwater.
