Wilma Jean Heldreth
Wilma Jean Heldreth met her Lord and Savior on August 30, 2019. She passed peacefully at the age of 84 in her home of 56 years surrounded by family. Services will be on Wednesday, September 4th at 10:30 a.m. at Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater.
Jean was born on November 30, 1934 in Ripley, OK to Wilmer and Pearl Hammock. She would gladly tell you the story of her birth that happened during a snowstorm when the fire department had to come to the home to help save her. She was raised on her family's homestead and graduated from Ripley High School in 1954. She married Randall Allen Hilbert and they had two children, Keith and Linda. She later married Charles Franklin Heldreth in 1967 who also had two sons, Derek and Kirk. The family of 6 continued the operation of the family dairy there in Ripley, which was landmarked by an 8ft rooster in the front yard. She retired in April of 1996 after 42 years of milking and operating a dairy farm. They had many friends during their marriage that they enjoyed spending time with and she would fondly retell stories of their times together. She loved to reminisce about the years of raising her children and the memories they built on the farm. Perhaps one of her biggest bragging points was her grandchildren and great grandchildren of whom she was beyond proud. She greatly enjoyed watching their activities and attending their events. She was a member of Diamond Valley Community Church for many years.
She is survived by her children: Derek and wife Diane of Norman; Keith; Kirk and wife Cynthia of Oklahoma City; and Linda and husband Greg of Ripley. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Amy and husband Sean, Kirstine, Jordana, Brad, Simone and husband Tim, Kristen and husband Colby, and Joel, as well as, her great-grandchildren; Reagan, Karsten, Scotlynn, Eva, Brave, and Judah.
Our mother and grandmother was a beautiful woman known for being strong, courageous, hardworking, independent, generous, and loving. She was cherished and will be greatly missed by those who knew her and loved her. She loved God and we have peace knowing she is in His presence forever and we will meet her there one day. "I have fought the fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7
